Sustainable Cocoa Production, Ghana from Andy Smith on Vimeo.
Between 25 November and 5 December 2011 I worked on a corporate shoot about sustainable and traceable cocoa production. A film crew and I visited the cocoa growing region of Western Ghana, documenting everything from seed nurseries to distribution depots. As well as six local community projects: farmer training, seed nurseries, malaria prevention, farm shops, community infrastructure and Village Resource Centres, the latter of which provides computer equipment and reliable internet access for education in schools and for farmers, and all are funded by the cocoa industry.
There is a new portfolio at www.andysmithuk.com documenting the cocoa production process as well as some of the community projects. To see all the photographs please go to the 'Portfolios' drop down menu.
